Medication

If absolutely necessary a member of staff will administer prescribed medicines to your child with written consent and if prescribed by a doctor, dentist, pharmacist prescriber. All medicines should always be provided in the original container which include the prescriber’s instructions for administration.

Please ask a member of staff for the appropriate form.

All medicines are stored as directed and out of reach of the children. NEVER LEAVE PRESCRIBED MEDICATION (including inhalers) IN YOUR CHILD’S BAGS.

If the administration of prescription medicines requires technical/medical knowledge then individual training will be required for staff from a qualified health professional. We suggest that you arrange this training via the nurse. Without the required training we will not be able to administer specialist medication.

If your child requires life saving medications then a Health Care Plan will need to be completed in order for us to meet our child’s needs. Please ask a member of staff for the appropriate forms. All life saving medication should be in date and handed into the nursery staff at the beginning of each session your child attends. If your child’s medication is not in date then for safety reasons your child will not be admitted for that session.
